Community Food Network

The Community Food Network is proud to be the coordinating agency on the 5th Annual County-Wide Food Drive, originally begun by WION Radio!  Donations will be collected throughout Ionia County to support not for profit organizations helping families in Ionia County.

5th Annual County-wide Food Drive Recipients

Continuing on with the WION Tradition, the Community Food Network will be coordinating the 5 th Annual County-Wide Food Drive! Donations will be collected throughout Ionia County to support 10 non-profit organizations helping families in Ionia County. Several local supporting businesses and organizations will be conducting mini-drives from October 26th – November 22nd. This includes several schools, fire departments, and other supporting groups. A full list of mini-drive locations will be available in October. Donations will all be gathered at the Ionia Intermediate School District on November 22nd where they will be sorted by volunteers. Recipient agencies will gather on November 23rd to pick up donations.

Mini Drive Information

There will be a Mini-Drive Kick-Off on October 21st at the Ionia Co Intermediate School District Admin Building from 4-7pm. Mini-Drive hosts are encouraged to stop in to pick up supplies, pick up marketing materials, and chat with the Food Drive Committee.

Register your Mini-Drive

Organizations and businesses are encouraged to host a mini-drive at their location with all donations coming together at the Ionia Intermediate School District on November 22nd where they will be sorted by volunteers. Mini-drives can take place any time between Make A Difference Day on October 26th to National Family Volunteer Day on November 22nd.

Mini-Drives Must Include:

  • Placing a Collections Container at your business.
  • Displaying Community Food Network print materials.
  • Drop off your collected donations at the Ionia ISD on Friday, November 22nd.

The Community Food Network will provide you with promotional materials including the Top 11 Most Needed List, Hunger Facts for Ionia County, and additional County-Wide Food Drive marketing materials. This information will be available at for easy downloading and posting inside your organization or emailed out to email chains.

Why should your business or organization support the County-Wide Food Drive?

  • By working together, mini-drives have a greater impact on local food pantries.
  • Donations all come together, are sorted and repacked to fit the individualized needs of local food pantries.
  • All donations are raised in Ionia County and stay in Ionia County.

Canned Art Photo Contest

Ionia County Intermediate School District
November 23rd from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Would your business, organization or school would like to participate in the CANNED ART photo contest?

Build any structure using boxes and cans of non-perishable food.
You may use cardboard, tape, or other supplies to secure your structure as long as the majority of the building material is food related.
Take lots a pictures while assembling your CANNED ART!

Photo Entry Must Include:

  • 1-3 Photos of the completed structure without any people.
  • Up to 10 Photos of the volunteers involved in creating your CANNED ART structure.
  • Contact information for the person submitting the photos.

Submit Photos via Email to or deliver to the Ionia County Intermediate School District on November 22nd when you deliver your food donations.

Photo Judging will take place on Nov 23rd! Each volunteer assisting with distribution day will receive 1 ticket to vote with. The photo with the most tickets will win the contest.
