An Evenings Respite

A respite from the day
A chance to cast off remarks
That caused offense
Like a liquid brand
Let nature be your guide
The placidity of the evening
As the tension slowly wilts
Neath the jasmine blossoms
Note the butterfly on the twig
How it lights and flies away
So rest your problems
On the tree of burdens
And make a pledge
Not to carry them
Until the morning.
