The Final Curtain

Wanting a night of repartee
Close the curtains against the world
Brittle hopes for peace set aside
While the velvet clouds cuddle
In scarlet dreams
Against the distant trees.
His laughter was the antidote
To a wishful tomorrow,
Bright as the setting sun
Healing the scars
Of the story of who I was,
The final curtain drawn on an act
Never to be played again
