Never shirk your duty and
A tough cookie never crumbles
Yet too much of anything
Can bring down a house of cards
Heaven is for those who pray
But you give an inch they take a mile
The voice of experience is supposed
To show us the way?
As we lay our cards on the table
Hoping our opponents will not
Think we malinger
As we take the pebble of life
Out of our shoe
And shake our fist
At fate
As we think twice
Before acting
And end up wrinkled and old
Counting syllables
Rather than love.
